Safe Environment

All employees and volunteers who minister and serve the children of our parish must fulfill all the Safe Environment requirements.  The Archdiocese of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania require that anyone who has any possible contact with children complete the following background checks and clearances. Volunteers who fail to obtain background checks and attend training are not permitted to remain involved in service to our children until all are completed.  All questions and forms should be directed to Fran Williams, Safe Environment Coordinator at 215-632-1144 or Franw@christthekingparish.net.

Safe Environment Training Required for ALL Employees and Volunteers:

Volunteers who have regular contact with children are required to complete parts one and two of the Safe Environment training within 90 days of beginning their work.

  • Part I:  Protecting God’s Children Awareness Session for Adults (instructor-led) is offered at sites throughout the Archdiocese.  The training provides basic facts about child sexual abuse and adults’ roles in prevention.   A list of classes and registration is through virtus.org
  • Part II:  The Mandatory Reporting of Suspected Child Abuse (online) is available online at the Archdiocese’s training institute in English and Spanish.  This training provides an overview of Archdiocesan reporting procedures for suspected abuse and Pennsylvania Child Welfare laws.  The training should take you approximately one hour to complete.   After the training is completed there is a certificate to print off.  A copy is needed for your Safe Environment file.  You can register for this at archphila.org.
  • Review of the Technology Addendum is a training module for those staff and volunteers who attended the Safe Environment Protecting God’s Children Awareness Session for Adults before July 1, 2011.  This training is available in English and Spanish on the Archdiocese’s website at archphila.org.
